Tayo Gbenro is a strategist and thinker. He is currently the lead in the Business Advisory Unit of Periscope Consulting Ltd, engaging in business development and providing project direction for private sector client engagements around strategy and performance management. Tayo’s has over 15 years’ experience as a consultant. He has worked in Energy, Oil & Gas, Telecommunications, Manufacturing, Health, Food & Drugs and FMCG sectors.
In the capacity of Analyst Strategy Marshall, he supported in defining and managing company’s strategy geared towards business development as well as serving as an analyst on clients’ engagements. Tayo specializes in corporate strategy and organizational performance and has deployed same for various organisations. He believes the most effective way to drive strategy implementation is to utilize the Balance Scorecard framework. Among other mandates, he has worked on projects involving organizational development, transformation, service management, human resource strategy, finance management and business planning among others.
Tayo has helped to execute the strategy to redistribute authority to the unbundled PHCN companies transforming them to autonomous companies in preparation for eventual sale within the Public Private Partnership framework of the then ruling administration. He has led several strategy engagements including the development of Vision 2020 for the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Strategy design and Balanced Scorecard programs for at least two commercial banks, one during an M&A deal; Strategy implementation using the BSC model for a government agency and a Tier-1 insurance company. Tayo has made a foray into the Microfinance segment of the Financial Services sector of the Nigeria business space, helping to define how to scale profitably yet avoiding the industry pitfalls that has led to downfall of several players. This is he doing in his role as the Lead, Business Advisory Unit at Periscope Consulting. Tayo has taken several capacity building courses in various business and management areas. He is a member of the Institute of Business Analysts, IIBA, USA.
